I’m loving this mushroom and halloumi burger for all the right reasons. It’s flavoured packed, easy to make and comes together in under 30 minutes. This droll-worthy burger is a healthier, tastier, and vegetarian-friendly option. Are you ready for a whole new level of fast food at home?
What ingredients you’ll need for this mushroom and halloumi burger
- Burger Buns or Brioche Buns: I like using brioche buns as they are tastier, however, burger buns work equally well with this recipe.
- Halloumi Cheese: Use about 200 g for 2 burgers.
- Large White Mushrooms: Wipe clean the mushrooms and remove the stalks.
- Lettuce Leaves: Wash and pat dry a few lettuce leaves and roughly tear them using your hands.
- Pickles: Cut a few pickles into thin slices. They will add the right acidity that combines beautifully with the rest of the flavours.
- Radishes: A few radishes, thinly sliced.
- Cherry tomatoes: 3 -4 thinly sliced cherry tomatoes.
- Microgreens or Mixed Salad: Use a handful of mixed salad that’s available to you.
- Tomato Sauce: You can use tomato sauce or ketchup. I found this smoked tomato sauce at Marks and Spencers (available in the UK)
FAQ
Halloumi is a type of cheese with a semi-hard consistency, typically made from the milk of goats, sheep or cows. It has been enjoyed and used in cooking recipes for many years in Cyprus where it has its origins. In recent years, halloumi has become popular around the world and can be found in most supermarkets.
Halloumi has a higher melting point. I suggest you use it grilled, baked or fried without losing its shape.
